Patient Administrator

Based in Chertsey

Temporary position for a period of 3 months with potential to get extended based on workload and performance. You must be availabe immedatly.

Role Purpose To contribute to the smooth running of the patient administrative process throughout the patient journey. Ensure the best practice process maps are followed, to provide an efficient, professional and standard service to all patients, visitors, consultants and staff. All patient queries are dealt with efficiently and professionally.

Core Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities May include activities including but not limited to:

  • First point of contact for all persons attending the hospital, including patients, staff, visitors, Consultants, contractors
  • To be competent in the use of the switchboard, ensuring quick and effective placing of incoming and outgoing calls, observing the company's policies on confidentiality
  • To manage all incoming and outgoing mail
  • Approve electronic bookings received via the relevant system and update any booking received via email
  • Input bookings within best practice time frame paying attention to the information provided on the patient's booking form and treatment
  • Liaise with Consultants or relevant medical secretaries to ensure patients booked for Theatre lists are as expected and any list orders/requirements are passed on to Theatre for review
  • To ensure that correct procedures are followed for visitors, contractors, and deliveries i.e. signing in and wearing visitor badges
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times
  • Prepare patient admission pack including electronic wristband, if applicable, to be filed within patient records
  • Maintain good working relationships with consultants
  • Maintain knowledge of Health and Safety at Work Act. Ensuring appropriate measures are taken in respect of Health and Safety for patients, relatives, visitors, hospital staff and contractors.
