Fantastic opportunity to join a well established charity based near Guildford.


Directly responsible to the CEO, this role is to lead the commercial and financial functions. You will be responsible for providing management accountancy expertise whilst ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of management information and financial control. All duties and responsibilities will be carried out in accordance with Charitable Trust financial regulations, policies and internal financial procedures. This will include overseeing the financial processes for mergers and acquisitions, recommending strategic direction and financial due diligence as well as financial modelling for investment proposals. Excellent communication skills at all levels are required along with the ability to form working relationships with a variety of stakeholders. The role also includes line management of the department heads of Finance & Administration, IT and Facilities.


Strategy and Development

  • oversee the financial processes for mergers and acquisitions recommending strategic direction
  • oversee and lead on the asset management plan to ensure business objectives are met

Financial Management and Management Information

  • Responsibility for the finance function, developing systems and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective management and control of the finances
  • Provide summary, quarterly management accounts for the board of trustees, together with succinct management reporting on variances to budget
  • prepare statutory financial information including consolidation and liaising with external advisors
  • analyse the financial performance and contribute to medium and long term business planning/forecasts



  • Full CCAB or CIMA qualified accountant
  • Management accounting experience
  • Knowledgeable regarding accounting procedures and compliance issues
  • Experience of providing financial control
  • Experience and understanding of charity governance, including knowledge of reporting standards and UK SORP
  • Sound knowledge of UKGAAP and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • High level of written and presentation skills
  • Advanced Excel skills and PC literacy
  • Ability to organise and manipulate data effectively
  • Strong commercial acumen


  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent)
