Receptionist - Croydon - £19,000-£19,500

Our client a Funeral DIrector are recruiting for a Receptionist for their Head Office based in Croydon.

To be the first point of contact for members of the public, clients and trades people coming into the offices. Having an understanding and caring attitude towards everyone you meet or speak to over the phone and efficiently organising a Funeral Arranger to see someone as quickly as possible. Ensuring the deceased are presented in the manner that a family member would expect and offering support and guidance through the process.

Making teas and coffees for families, answering all incoming phone calls and transferring them with efficiency and with clear details, attending chapels when required, keeping the Reception area tidy at all times, show pride in the Reception duties and in the Reception area, doing the window displays, take ownership of the chapel lists.

Job and responsibilities

  • Meeting and greeting clients and organising them to see a Funeral Arranger and serving teas and coffees when required
  • Answering phones and transferring calls to correct party and taking messages where required
  • Ensuring and checking deceased are suitable for viewing and escorting families and friends through to chapels for viewings and services
  • Ensuring reception area, chapels and surrounding areas are tidy
  • Handling deliveries of flowers and ensuring they are delivered correctly
  • Arranging for urns for cremated remains at client's request
  • Liaising with clients and ensure accurate record keeping of cremated remains
  • Doing the monthly window display

  • Skills and Qualifications

  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Sympathetic and understanding approach to all client
  • Ability to keep records accurately
  • Calm and approachable manner

  • The ideal candidate must be flexible to work different hours, you will either work 8am - 5pm or 10am - 8pm
