I am looking for an ambitious, analytical individual with a sound financial track record and excellent communication skills as Head of Finance.

You will lead the finance and payroll teams, and work closely with senior staff across the organisation to ensure the achievement of the financial strategy.

Reporting to the Group Director, Finance and Resource Planning, this role is pivotal in providing essential financial control and analysis, enabling the organisation to identify new opportunities, whilst streamlining existing operations. This role requires excellent experience of all round accounting including management accounts, budgeting and costing as well as experience of managing payroll.

It is essential that you are able to successfully lead a team and work closely with Directors and managers to ensure a clear understanding of financial issues.

Academic Qualifications

  • CCAB Fully Qualified Accountant with appropriate academic qualifications
  • A higher level leadership/management qualification would be desirable.

Essential Experience

  • Experience of successful financial leadership in an educational environment.
  • Experience of delivering statutory accounts, monthly management accounts, annual budgets and financial forecasts
  • Strong IT and reporting skills using primarily Microsoft products
  • Monitoring, reporting and advising on financial strategies that deliver strong financial health
  • Experience of working with senior managers to develop financial strategies, strategic objectives and business plans
  • Providing financial advice to staff across an organisation
  • Developing the financial capabilities of budget holders
  • Experience of working with external stakeholders such as bankers, auditors and funding agencies
  • Experience of contributing to the improvement of systems and process to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
  • Explanation of complex financial information to staff at all levels
