Our international client who is a leading manufacturer of fluid power hydraulic and pneumatic seals requires an experienced Purchasing Manager to join their team.
Purchasing Manager:
You will form an integral part in the achievement of departmental objectives. With a strong, solid background in purchasing, the role will take a proactive approach to ensuring an efficient and cost-effective purchasing function. The role is key to leading the Company forward in securing quality suppliers of materials and components covering price, delivery, and quality targets.
This role will also cover the setting up and raising of demand on Subsidiaries through the Distribution Order system.
Purchasing Manager Responsibilities:
Operational Management
- Managing and controlling all the company's external suppliers with particular emphasis on the procurement of raw materials, and finished parts for production and services.
- Monitoring inventory levels and determining purchase needs.
- Preparing and processing purchase orders.
- Scheduling and verifying purchase deliveries.
- Daily reporting of OTIF performance & stock availability.
- Work with freight forwarders and transportation companies to set the best route and rate (review and approve freight terms)
- Manage relationships with key suppliers to maintain quality of goods, timely delivery, and compliance with terms of contracts.
- Ensure compliance with the company's current and future quality requirements via annual audits.
- Where appropriate identify new suppliers and assist with the agreement of terms and negotiation of supply agreements, including discount structures and volume rebates.
- Maintain a supply of products to Hampton through the intercompany Distribution system and support proper utilization of ERP system
- Administer supplying pricelists, and justification of costs within the company's costing system.
- Liaise with key stakeholders within the company including operations, technical, internal & external sales
Purchasing Manager Communication
- Ensure that effective and regular communication takes place between teams and individuals
- Foster close working relationships with associated departments e.g. Sales, Technical, Engineering, Production, Business Development, and Quality.
Health & Safety
- Effectively ensure that all health & safety regulations and practices are met and adhered to for the safety of employees
- Ensure that full cooperation is given to the Health & Safety Manager in relation to risk assessment and accident reporting incidents
Purchasing Manager General Responsibilities
- Comply with all health & safety requirements
- Comply with all other company policies & procedures
- Take responsibility for your personal development, identify training needs, and request appropriate training as required
- Deliver a seamless interface with internal and external customers as required
Purchasing Manager Experience required:
- High competency level in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel - Advanced, PowerPoint, Word, as a minimum)
- Fully conversant with modern procurement and purchasing techniques.
- Ability to take a proactive approach to overcome challenges and achieve results.
- Proven appreciation of customer service expectations and cost demands of business.
- Set priorities taking into account the short and long-term needs of the business.
- Minimum 3 years of previous Purchasing role experience ideally gained in an Engineering environment.
- Experience in Purchasing bespoke, manufactured parts including scheduled deliveries.
- Experience of working with MRP systems is essential, specific experience of working with M3 would be beneficial.
- Proven track record of controlling and reducing external spending whilst developing a robust supplier base
