Working Hours: 8am-5pm, Monday to Friday (office and site-based after 6 months 1 day from home)

Job Purpose:
The Sustainability Co-Ordinator will report to and work closely with the Sustainability team, serving as a key point of contact within the business. This role involves collaborating with other team members to meet local aspirations and deliver the corporate sustainability strategy. The Co-Ordinator will also interact with a broader network of Sustainability Advisors and Managers across the Group.

This varied role focuses on environmental, social, and economic impacts of development activities. The Co-Ordinator will support multiple departments and project teams in complying with environmental regulations and the company's development and construction standards, aiming to meet the  Sustainability Strategy targets. Weekly tasks will include site visits to manage risk, checking operations align with environmental best practices, collating electricity meter readings and fuel tickets for reporting, and working with project teams to implement waste reduction innovations.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
  • Adopt a proactive approach to improving performance and promoting sustainability to all staff
  • Raise awareness of the Sustainability Strategy and Standards via both formal and informal training of staff
  • Undertake frequent visits to construction sites to assess compliance with the in-house environmental management system and make recommendations for improvement
  • Assist in the collation, analysis, and reporting of data (e.g., waste volumes, utility and fuel use) to assess performance against sustainability targets
  • Keep up-to-date with the sustainability agenda, best practice guidelines, and understand how they may affect the company
  • Prepare guidance to assist project teams in managing sustainability
  • Work as part of group-wide sustainability forums and working groups to share knowledge, drive good practice, and implement the corporate Sustainability Strategy
  • Compile written reports on sustainability performance
Technical Competencies:
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Confidence in working with people at all levels in an organisation
  • Ability to motivate people to change their behavior
  • Relevant work experience is preferred but not essential
  • Motivated and enthusiastic about promoting sustainability
