An exciting opportunity for an experienced senior nurse to lead an innovative 24-hour specialist palliative care service. We are seeking an ambitious, compassionate and experienced Palliative Helpline Lead to provide strategic and operational leadership for a new specialist palliative and end-of-life care service supporting patients and families across six boroughs of North West London.
This is an exciting opportunity for a senior clinical leader to shape and develop a new service, working at the heart of an integrated care environment alongside paramedics, NHS 111 clinicians, Frailty Consultants and wider multidisciplinary teams.
The service will provide responsive specialist palliative-care support to patients and families 24 hours a day, with the post holder potentially required to participate in shift patterns, including night shifts, as the service develops.
The Role As Palliative Helpline Lead, you will provide strategic and operational leadership to the Pall24 team, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, evidence-based and person-centred specialist palliative and end-of-life care.
Working closely with senior clinical colleagues and multidisciplinary partners, you will play a key role in:
  • Leading and developing a new 24-hour specialist palliative-care service.
  • Providing strong clinical, operational and professional leadership to the team.
  • Developing effective integrated care pathways across health and social care.
  • Building strong working relationships with NHS and other partner organisations.
  • Supporting high-quality, responsive and compassionate care for patients and their families.
  • Driving continuous improvement, service development and innovation.
  • Promoting excellent standards of clinical practice and patient experience.
  • Supporting staff development, wellbeing and professional leadership.
  • Monitoring and improving service performance and quality.

About You We are looking for an experienced senior nurse and clinical leader with significant specialist palliative-care experience and a proven track record of leadership.
You will ideally bring:
  • Significant experience within specialist palliative and end-of-life care.
  • Strong senior nursing and clinical leadership experience.
  • Experience of leading, managing or developing clinical teams and services.
  • Excellent clinical judgement and decision-making skills.
  • Experience of service development and continuous improvement.
  • The ability to develop effective partnerships across health and social care.
  • Strong communication, influencing and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience of working effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • A commitment to delivering compassionate, person-centred care.
  • The ability to work strategically while maintaining a strong focus on clinical quality and patient outcomes.
