Procurement Specialist 12 month Maternity cover.

Our client based in Hook is looking for a Procurement Specialist for a 12 months Maternity cover.

Key job purpose

The Procurement Specialist will be responsible and accountable for the supply chain function for the Europe entity of our client whilst working within the framework of the global corporate procurement processes and strategy. This includes a number of responsibilities: Key objective of ensuring continuity of supply, and meeting cost and cost reduction objectives. Working together with Supply chain management processes, including the selection, evaluation and long-term monitoring of performance of company Approved Vendor List (AVL). Acting as the key contact window within the company for all supply chain activities including sourcing, pricing and understanding of market trends Ensuring continual compliance with company (both local and corporate) policies. Significant focus on and monitoring of product costs, ensuring predictable spend, while meeting budgeted targets. Will involve working closely with all key work streams to provide supply chain support on new projects and supply chain strategy Tight working relationships with our contract manufacturers to support supply chain activities to ensure best costs and lead time are met to ensure profitable products being manufactured on time. Working on new project costings to support new product introduction and meeting marketing target pricing. Day to day operational responsibility for purchasing activities including component shortage, scheduling and pricing support for ongoing production Management of In house inventory including management and reporting from SAP.

Responsibilities

Product costing, and budget adherence.
- Ensuring continuity of supply by monitoring component availability throughout the supply chain.
- Operational support on existing manufacturing procurement activities.
- Support cost down projects.
- Sourcing and negotiating pricing in line with targets.
- Define and contribute to local and corporate supply chain strategy
- Analysis and identifying weaknesses in all product bill of materials and putting in place strategy to remove these weaknesses to ensure a robust supply chain
- Provide market trends and understanding of technology shifts that impact availability and price to feed into design and mitigate future risk


Experience and Qualifications

- Good experience and knowledge of SAP preferred but not essential.
- Can demonstrate a good understanding of bills of materials in an electronic environment.
- Proven experience of securing cost savings and maintaining costs within the electronics industry.
- At least 5 years' experience in a supply chain role
- Management of Supply Chain and contract manufacturers in Europe and Asia, proactively managing and mitigating issues highly desirable.
- Proven experience of working in a global framework and defining, implementing and improving supply chain processes
- Significant experience of working relationships with key suppliers globally and deep understanding of market movements and pricing in key commodities and raw materials
