The Role: Fire Service Manager The Fire Service Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of a busy fire service department, leading engineers, overseeing service delivery, and acting as the escalation point for customers and technical matters.

This is not a purely desk-based role. The position requires a visible, hands-on leader who can balance operational management with practical technical involvement when required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of fire service engineers, supported by an administrative function
  • Plan and oversee routine servicing, maintenance, and emergency call-outs
  • Act as the main escalation point for technical issues, customer concerns, and false alarms
  • Review and approve timesheets, attendance, and quality of works
  • Prepare quotations and pricing for fire and life safety systems
  • Manage service agreements, engineer schedules, stock, and technical documentation
  • Ensure all works comply with British Standards and industry regulations
  • Attend site when required to support engineers and resolve issues
  • Drive continuous improvement across service delivery and internal processes
About the Person
  • Proven experience managing teams within a fire, security, or life safety service environment
  • Strong customer-facing and communication skills
  • Practical, hands-on technical knowledge (formal certifications not essential)
  • Highly organised, proactive, and confident managing multiple priorities
  • Comfortable with scheduling, reporting, and budget oversight
  • Flexible and willing to participate in out-of-hours support or rotas when required
  • A collaborative, down-to-earth leadership style aligned with a strong team culture
