Safeguarding Support Officer.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a part-time Safeguarding Support Officer within a dynamic Quality Assurance Service in Slough. This temporary role offers a chance to make a real impact on the lives of children and families in the community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the organization of Reviews for Children Looked After by the Local Authority.
  • Arrange and manage Initial and Review Child Protection Conferences, ensuring statutory timescales are met.
  • Attend multi-agency meetings (including Children's Social Care, Police, Health, and Education), take specialist minutes, and follow up on action points.
  • Serve as the first line of contact for external and internal partners regarding Child Protection Conferences, Looked After Children Reviews, and other complex meetings.
  • Maintain data collection systems to ensure data quality and accuracy for monthly quality assurance reports.
  • Update partner agencies about children subject to Child Protection Plans and Looked After Children, maintaining data security.
  • Support key posts within the Children’s Safeguarding and Quality Assurance Unit, including the Head of Service, Complaints Manager, Child Protection Chair, and Independent Reviewing Officers.
Person Specification:
  • Demonstrable experience in office administration and service support.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working and communicating with multi-agency organizations, internal staff, and the public.
  • Proficiency in creating and maintaining computerized and manual information management systems.
  • Experience in attending and supporting complex multi-professional meetings.
  • Understanding of good customer service, particularly in inter-agency partnerships.
  • Knowledge of data protection, data security, and confidentiality issues.
  • Commitment to Equality and Diversity principles.
  • Educated to GCSE level (grades A-C) or equivalent with a good level of numeracy and literacy.
  • Office skills qualifications such as RSA, Pitman, or NVQ Business.
General & Specific Knowledge:
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Proven skills in taking specialized minutes at complex multi-professional meetings.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software and ability to learn bespoke software.
  • Proven accuracy in dealing with data and correspondence.
  • Ability to manage workload, meet tight deadlines, and maintain accuracy and quality.
